Day 1

    Key Note Speaker: Colin Woodard, author of "The Lobster Coast"
    The history of Maine/Maritime lobster fisheries, how they evolved, why they have in many ways succeeded when other fisheries have fallen into crisis. ("The Lobster Coast" also deals with many cultural and historical factors, explaining coastal Maine's unusual identity.)


Day 2

  • 9:00 – 10:15 am- State of the Lobster Industry, Challenges and Opportunities; John Sackton, President - Seafood.com, Major producing Lobster countries, pricing relationship amongst lobster species, value forecasts, live vs. processed global demand and challenges, emerging markets

Deer Island

  • 10:15 – 10:45 – Free time preparation for departure to Deer Island
  • 10:40 am – Fairmont shuttle leaves for St. Andrew’s Wharf from hotel lobby
  • 11:00 AM - Departure for Deer Island, , Boat (weather permitting), Casual Dress Wind, Wet & Cold Proof
  • Whale Watch Tour and visit to lobster fishing grounds; Narration on lobster biology, Dr. Robert Bayer, Executive Director - Lobster Institute; Academic Dean
  • & Uniqueness of Bay of Fundy, Huntsman’s Bill Robertson, Lunch on board
  • 1:30 pm, Arrive Deer Island. Lobster Shack, Coffee
  • 2:00 – 4 pm, Plant Tour & Workshops (Live and Frozen Processing), Deer Island
  • Actively participate in the Lobster Grading Process; Pack Lobster for real time shipments across the globe, Actively participate in processing and freezing lobster.
  • 4:30 pm – Plant Cafeteria, Surf & Turf Dinner
  • 6:30 pm – World Famous Lobster Shack; Harbourside; Cocktails & Bonfire
  • 8:00 pm, Depart to Deer Island N.B. L'etete Ferry Landing
